Man, 18, charged after allegedly assaulting ER nurse in Alberta hospital

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — An 18-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting an emergency room nurse in southern Alberta.

Lethbridge Police say they were called to Chinook Regional Hospital late Friday night after a patient had been brought to the facility by EMS.

They allege the patient choked, assaulted and threatened to kill a female nurse.

Police say EMS and a peace officer intervened and the patient was taken into custody by hospital security before police arrival.

A man from Cardston, Alta., is charged with assault by choking, assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court November 16.
