Lockdown at Alberta high school, college lifted; police continue to investigate

Olds RCMP are continuing to investigate an alleged threat that led to a lockdown of École Olds High School and the Olds College of Agriculture & Technology this morning.

OLDS, Alta. — RCMP are continuing to investigate an alleged threat that led to a lockdown of École Olds High School and the Olds College of Agriculture & Technology today.

Police and fire vehicles blocked various entrances to the college and high school for roughly an hour on Oct. 28.

“There was a lockdown at the high school and college as a result of an alleged threat. It has since been lifted. There is no risk to anyone at this time,” RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney wrote in an email.

In an interview with the Albertan, Slaney said emergency crews received the call at 10:05 a.m. She said police determined by 10:53 a.m. that “everything was A-OK.”

Slaney said because the matter is in its early stages of investigation she could not provide any further information.

“I am sure it will come once the members have time to do their reports, etc.,” she wrote.
