Police Beat: Woman charged with attempted murder


Attempted murder charge laid

A St. Albert woman is facing an attempted murder charge after a man was sent to hospital with serious injuries.

On Feb. 28 just before midnight the St. Albert RCMP was called to a disturbance at a residence in the Pineview neighbourhood on St. Albert. A 27-year-old woman was arrested after a 27-year-old man was seriously injured.

Crystal Lynn Erickson of Edmonton is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, breach of conditions and a weapons offence.

The St. Albert RCMP said that they are confident that duo were known to each other and there is no danger to other residents. The man is recuperating in the hospital.

Erickson will appear in court on Monday, March 19. She has not spoken to bail yet.

Man faces roadside suspension

A Morinville man received a roadside suspension for impaired driving in Jasper.

On March 5 just after midnight the Jasper RCMP stopped a vehicle and conducted a sobriety check with the driver.

The man was placed on an approved screening device and the result warranted a roadside suspension. The RCMP also determined the driver was suspended from driving.

The 21-year-old man was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving while suspended and his vehicle was seized for 30 days. RCMP have not released the man’s name.
