Traffic control not paying attention?

I was just absolutely dismayed to see not one but two flag girls on their cellphones while directing traffic in front of the St. Albert Bubbles this afternoon.

As one lane is closed they were both responsible to either hold up Stop or Slow signs, hereby having the responsibility to ensure only one lane of traffic could get through.

I watched helplessly as both of them flipped their signs while barely looking up from their phones to do so. Girls, your job is to keep drivers and yourselves safe.

I wonder if the City of St. Albert is aware of how these two girls are doing their jobs.

I wonder what WCB would think should there be an injury to one of them while they were on their phones? Surely the city must have a policy on this?
