St. Albert RCMP are warning people to keep vehicles secured and safeguard valuables after multiple vehicles were hit over the holidays.

Overnight between Saturday Dec. 23 and Sunday Dec. 24 a thief or thieves broke into three vehicles in the Kingswood neighbourhood.

Between eight and 10 p.m. on Dec. 23 someone broke into a 2014 Toyota Tacoma truck parked on Kenilworth Crescent and stole the garage door opener from the vehicle. The owners were advised to take precautions to prevent the garage door opener from being used to break into the home.

Later the same night, a 2012 GMC Sierra truck parked on Kendall Crescent was targeted by a thief or thieves. The registration and insurance papers were taken from the vehicle and the RCMP cautioned the owners to take precautions to prevent identity theft.

In the same night, a 2008 Ford truck parked on Kingsford Crescent was broken into and cash and gift cards were taken. A garage door opener was also taken from the vehicle and used to gain entry into the garage. Once inside a Mercedes Benz car was broken into and a wallet with ID, credit cards, cash, house keys, registration and insurance documents were all stolen. The RCMP spoke with the home owners about preventing the home from being broken into and warned them about identity theft.

Deer Ridge

The Deer Ridge community was also targeted by thieves before Christmas.

On Dec. 23 at around 10:45 p.m. the St. Albert RCMP received a call reporting that three males were seen on a driveway on Dorchester Drive in Deer Ridge looking into the window of the parked vehicles as if they were going to break them.

The trio ran south down the pathway to Dayton Drive towards Giroux Road. The RCMP were not able to locate the suspects but are warning residents that someone is targeting vehicles for theft.

Anyone with information about these or any other crimes is asked to contact St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700 or the Morinville RCMP at 780-939-4550. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at www.tipsubmit.com.
