Kara Harris of the St. Albert Illusion sniped the overtime winner with seconds remaining in the tween final at the recent West Coast Classic Ringette Tournament in Richmond, B.C.

The 6-5 victory against Fraser Valley also marked the second tournament title of the season for the U14 A-2 team.

En route to the final, the Illusion defeated the Surry Snipers 8-1, Kelowna Fusion 8-5, tied Delta 5-5 and beat Fraser Valley 8-5 in a rough game.

In the Black Gold League the Illusion are ranked in the middle of the pack with the Zone 5 provincial qualifying playoffs only a few weeks away.

The new field manager for the St. Albert Tigers is Marc Dallorto.

The former player and coach with the junior AAA and senior AAA Tigers also coached the midget AAA St. Albert Cardinals in the Norwest league.

The Paul Kane High School teacher is also an assistant coach with the senior men’s basketball team.

Dallorto replaces Kurtus Millar in the Tigers dugout. Millar announced his retirement from the Tigers after the team surrendered 17 unearned runs in four losses at the Baseball Alberta senior AAA championship.

Millar was the player/coach when the Tigers last won provincials in 2007. It was the team’s eighth provincial title since 1988 and the first since 2004.

Last year the Tigers finished 7-20 overall. They were 5-9 in the Sunburst league regular season, 0-2 in the playoffs, 2-5 in tournaments and 0-4 at provincials.
