Green Bean Coffee House/Bistro is catering Dinner Time in the Maritimes on Saturday

Morinville’s Green Bean Coffee House/Bistro and Smith Music have built a successful partnership hosting specialty dinners.

Now on their third offering, the duo is bringing foodies together once more for Dinner Time in the Maritimes at Smith Music on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Green Bean owner Doug Adsit is whipping up a delectable dish of cod with lobster sauce, wild garlic pork bangers and mash, and popular East Coast veggies such as fiddleheads. The creamy dessert is a mouth-watering flapper pie.

“I’m trying to have an upscale theme instead of jig dinner,” said Adsit.

Musicians Brian Maxwell (guitar), Ed Bulger (guitar/piano), Paul Smith (bass) and Byron Myhre (fiddle) are also gearing up to play a couple of sets of lively Maritime rhythms and beats.

Smith Music is at 9917 – 100 St. Tickets are $40. Call 780-862-0340 or email paul@smithmusic.ca.

For Italian Centre Shop owner Teresa Spinelli meals are where families come together, friendships are made and memories are cherished.

Together with her equally passionate staff, Spinelli is interested in elevating the culinary scene by offering a recipe and dinner series – two different events.

For recipe collectors, Edmonton chefs contribute one recipe offered as an on-site demo with samples held the first Saturday of every month at every location. Free recipe cards are provided.

For instance, on Feb. 4, chef Sean O’Connor from Red Ox Inn is providing his recipe for Chocolate Coffee Pot de CrÈme, a velvety smooth crÈme mousse made from Michele Cluizel chocolate and served with almond cookies.

From February to July other chef contributors including Sonny Sung (Bistecca), Lino Oliviera (Sabor & Bodega), Brad Smoliak (Kitchen), Doreen Prei (Get Cooking), James Szutaski (NAIT) and Blair Lebsack (Range Road) share their specialties.

Spinelli is also hosting five full-scale dinners at the Italian Centre Shop’s south end location on the first Tuesday of the month from Feb. 7 to June 3. Tickets are $65 to $75 and include tax and gratuities. A complete listing is available through italiancentre.ca.
