Shots fired in Sturgeon Heights

One man is injured after an incident where shots were fired in a residential area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The St. Albert RCMP responded to witness reports of shots being fired in the neighbourhood of Sturgeon Heights just after 3:30 a.m.

RCMP arrived at the scene and determined that a possible victim had fled on foot. The police searched the area and located an injured 24-year-old man who is a resident of St. Albert, a short distance away from the scene inside a home.

The man did not require hospitalization and the RCMP would not say if the man was shot.

The investigation is still in its early stages but police believe that it was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.

The RCMP expect to release more details on Thursday.
