Senators should take their time with cannabis law

As per Dave Burkhart’s letter (Gazette, Feb. 24) on the cannabis law hold up, I for one am very glad that the senators are taking their time to discuss such an important issue.

For one there has been no approval from the medical institutions that there is any medicinal results from smoking cannabis except that it relaxes you. Another reason is there are no testing laws in place for drivers caught driving under the influence.

Finally, you talk about the American states that have approved cannabis yet the American government says it will still be an offence to show up at the border with cannabis on your person.

So I say sir, I thank the senators for taking their time to get this right.
