Rugby semifinals

Today’s semifinals at St. Albert Rugby Football Club kick off at 2 p.m. for the division two women and 4 p.m. for the premier men.

The SARFC women scrum down against the LA Crude and the premier men battle the Strathcona Druids.

The winner between SARFC (8-1, 437 PF/154 PA) and the Crude (6-3, 307 PF/175 PA) plays the Lep/Tigers (8-1, 445 PF/138 PA) or the Clan (7-2, 454 PF/114 PA) in the Edmonton Rugby Union final next Saturday at 12:45 p.m. at Ellerslie Rugby Park.

In league play, SARFC lost 35-31 to the Crude on June 27 in St. Albert.

The sixth victory in a row for SARFC was 45-29 against the host Lep/Tigers on Wednesday.

The premier men’s Ken Ann Cup north semifinal is a rematch of last year’s playoff, 23-15 Druids at SARFC.

The premier teams wrapped up the Alberta Cup fixtures last weekend with the Druids winning 35-32 on Cameron Hall’s penalty kick on the final play of the match in St. Albert.

The 5-5 records for both clubs include the 46-15 win for SARFC (297 PF/289 PA) against the Druids (268 PF/314 PA)  June 23 in Sherwood Park.

The Ken Ann Cup final next Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Ellerslie will determine the ERU provincial qualifier against the Calgary Rugby Union rep Sept. 29 in Calgary.

The Nor’Westers, the defending champions, play the Lep/Tigers in Saturday’s north semifinals.
