Pedestrian dies after being hit in McDonald’s parking lot

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK - Members of the St. Albert RCMP discuss the scene of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald's near downtown St. Albert on Feb. 18.

The woman who was struck in the parking lot of a McDonald’s Restaurant has died from her injuries.

The 79-year-old pedestrian was hit in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 369 St. Albert Trail on Feb. 18 around 2:50 p.m.

The St. Albert woman was injured during the collision and was taken to hospital. She succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.

The 70-year-old female driver of the 2000 gold Honda CRV that was involved in the collision has been charged with careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act.

The woman, who is also a St. Albert resident, is to appear in court on Apr. 22.

The names of the pedestrian and driver are not being released.
