The undefeated St. Albert SLAM midget A girls tip-off the Edmonton Youth Basketball Association playoffs tonight against SW Mrazik.

Start time is 7:30 p.m. at Saville Community Sports Centre.

The winner plays SBA Caldwell or Leduc Lightning in the final March 2.

The Youth Provincial Championships are March 11 to 13 at the Saville Centre.

The SLAM are 18-0 in league play and 3-0 in tournament action after going 20-0 overall as the defending EYBA and provincial champions.

Six players are competing for their third provincial title and third undefeated season as graduates of the 2014 SLAM bantam A provincial winners. The SLAM record is 59-0 during that span.

The Ringette Alberta AA provincials start Friday for the St. Albert Mission in Lacombe and Red Deer.

The U19AA Mission belles are in Pool B with Calgary Blue and Calgary Red and pool A consists of the host Central Alberta Sting, Zone 5 GRIT and Edmonton Elite.

The belles are 8-11-2 in the Black Gold League, with most of the games against open A teams, and 14-18-7 overall.

The U16AA Mission juniors play Calgary Blue, Calgary APEX, Zone 5 Pack and the Elite in the seven-team draw. Zone 2 Inception and Central Alberta are also entered.

The juniors are 10-3-3 in league play and 24-11-5 overall.

The U14AA Mission tweens are grouped with Calgary Red, Calgary White and Central Alberta in pool B and Calgary Red, Zone 5 Edge, Sherwood Park Surge and the Elite form pool A.

The tweens are 15-14-5 overall and in league play tied for fifth in the U16A division with the U14AA Elite.

All six U19 teams and all seven U16 teams at provincials advance to the Tim Hortons Canadian Ringette Championships, April 3 to 9 in London, Ont., and four U14 teams qualify for westerns, March 23 to 26 in Richmond, B.C.

Last year the U19 belles won bronze and the U16 juniors placed seventh at nationals and the U14 tweens finished seventh at westerns.

At provincials in St. Albert, the U19 belles placed third and the U16 juniors and U14 tweens finished fifth.

The 2015/16 Mission AA rosters feature eight returning belles from the 34-14-1 team, nine juniors are back from the 31-12-3 lineup and three tweens remain from the 24-21-4 roster.

This is the third season for the U19AA and U16AA Mission and the fourth for the U14AA team.
