Guilty plea after man hurt in Pineview home
A woman has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after facing several charges, including attempted murder.
Crystal Lynn Erickson pleaded guilty on Monday to aggravated assault and failing to comply with an undertaking. She will be sentenced in August.
The 27-year-old was initially facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, breach of conditions and a weapons offence after an incident on Feb. 28.
Just before midnight, the St. Albert RCMP were called to a disturbance at a residence in the Pineview neighbourhood. A woman was arrested after a 27-year-old man was seriously injured. The man’s condition and the extent of his injuries have not been disclosed.
Erickson will return for sentencing on Aug. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Albert Provincial Court.
Cab driver puts matters over
A St. Albert cab driver facing numerous child exploitation charges will appear in court later this month after an investigation alleges he was trying to form sexual relationships with teenage girls.
The St. Albert RCMP and the Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (I.C.E.) arrested a local cab driver after allegations of multiple child exploitation offences.
RCMP allege a 68-year-old cab driver would provide free rides and gifts to teenage girls, contacting the teenagers through his cellphone in an attempt to form relationships for a sexual purpose.
Imam Buksh has been charged with transmitting child pornography, luring a child for a sexual purpose, making an arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a child, attempt to commit a sexual assault on a child and counsel to attempt to commit sexual interference.
Buksh is scheduled to appear at the St. Albert Provincial Court on July 30 at 9:30 a.m. for election and plea.
