Deadly collision west of St. Albert


Collision kills one

One person is dead after a collision northwest of St. Albert in Sturgeon County.

On Nov. 26 at around 6 p.m. two vehicles collided on Highway 44 near Meadowview Drive.

A southbound SUV crossed the centre line colliding head-on with a northbound truck.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the truck were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Next of kin has been notified and the identity of the deceased will not be released.

An RCMP collision analyst attended to assist with the investigation.  The collision remains under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.

Flower shop vandalism

Morinville RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify a man who broke into a flower shop in Morinville but did not steal anything.

On Nov. 19, 2017 a man broke into the Flower Stop on 100 Avenue in Morinville between 1:50 a.m. and 2:45 a.m.

A man smashed out the front window and gained entry to the business. The RCMP do not think the man made off with any property or money. Surveillance video in the area shows the man heading toward 101 Avenue via 103 Street.

The man is described as Caucasian, balding and standing at five-foot, nine-inches and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a black waist-length coat with a fur-lined hood, dark-coloured blue jeans and he was carrying a pry bar.
