Q: What was your primary motivation to seek elected office?
I’m running to be the trusted voice throughout our community, introducing and fostering productive discussions about our values and the services provided in our community. I’m a relatively new resident of Sturgeon County. I enjoy meeting and hearing the challenges others face and the core issues that hinder our success. I’m most looking forward to bringing a fresh non-biased voice to council. Together with you, I’ll work to build a strongly connected community reflecting the views and desires of those living and working in the region; striving to present Sturgeon County as the best place to live and conduct business.

Q: What skills and experiences have prepared you for this office
Active, energetic, and driven by curiosity, I have a strong background in customer service, telecommunications, and technical support. Having spent most of my career in the field serving people directly, I’ve built a strong ability to communicate effectively under fire. I’m also a partner in a local telecom company and have experience with bidding, planning, budgeting, and ultimately deploying major projects in both the public and private sectors. I enjoy being focused and engaged, working to solve complex problems. I have experience working with technical and legal documents and regularly attend and review council meetings and minutes online.

Q: What do you think are the most important issues to the community at large?
Our community faces many challenges: property rights, zoning, development and permitting, land-use, policing and safety, and communication with ratepayers, to name several. We also face challenges with our gravel roads, construction, and the amount of traffic, including dangerous goods, now moving through our residential neighbourhoods. We face obstacles with municipal services such as potable water and fibre internet connectivity. Our division is currently under-served by existing wireless internet solutions and many areas do not have direct access to clean, potable water. Since area wells can be salty, having access to clean water is essential to building strong, prosperous communities.

Q: What specific goals will you work to achieve if elected?
The protection and recognition of individual rights to life, liberty, and property are the only proper purposes of government. Roads are a major priority. I’ll begin working with residents, targeting the needs of each community. I’ll open formal discussions to study the feasibility of policing our own county. I’ll endeavour to outsource menial tasks to private business, working to support and foster the growth of our county’s small business sector. I’ll communicate effectively and engage our community in decision-making whenever possible. I’ll also be a strong advocate towards reducing taxes and fees, permitting, and bylaws to their bare minimums.
