Q: What was your primary motivation to seek elected office?
I love living in Sturgeon County and am proud to be here. Since moving to the area, I see the county is full of natural beauty and caring, hard-working people who want the best for their friends and neighbours. I care about the county and want to see everyone in it benefit from its successes. I want to serve the people of Sturgeon County, which means ensuring the county is being run efficiently. I also have an interest in politics and I know, if elected, I will do a great job at performing the council’s responsibilities.
Q: What skills and experiences have prepared you for this office?
I bring 28 years of work, business and educational experience. A strong work ethic was instilled in me early. I delivered newspapers at 11 years of age and at 14, I was delivering multiple routes and multiple newspapers. Throughout my education I continued to work and struck a balance with competing priorities. I am active in the community which has taught me to listen, understand the needs of diverse organisations and deliver solutions to meet those needs. I built a business that became successful because I am honest, provide value in my service, and have good relationships with clients.
Q: What do you think are the most important issues to the community at large?
1) Roads – The number one issue I hear from my neighbours and all over the county is the current condition of our roads. My number one priority will be on maintaining and repairing our existing roads, repaving our heaviest trafficked roads, and making our roads safer.
2) Communication – Many of the folks I talk to feel that they there are not being listened to. I will improve communication between residents and the council.
3) Responsibility – I want accountability and efficiency of our tax dollars. As a taxpayer I will get the best value for our dollar.
Q: What specific goals will you work to achieve if elected?
I will work to improve roads because roads and road safety are vital needs for all residents of Sturgeon County. I will target improvements on roads in need of maintenance and areas where access is restricted after bad weather.
I want to improve the speed and connectivity of Broad Band Internet. We need to incentivize competition of service providers and lower permitting fees for new cell tower construction.
I will improve waste management service in the county. I propose that the county provide waste transfer stations. These stations will help eliminate illegal dumping and help folks have proper garbage removal.
