Business Beat: new breakfast series and state of city

New business series

The Northern Alberta Business Incubator (NABI) is starting a new initiative called ‘Breakfast Series’.

The workshop runs twice monthly for the price of $20. The series for September is called Wellness in the Workplace, which is broken down into two different workshops.

On Sept. 20, entrepreneurs can learn how to set and follow through on objectives for the year, while on Sept. 27, attendees can learn about domestic violence in the workplace.

Entrepreneurs in the community will lead each workshop. The events will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring pens, notebooks and business cards to the event.

State of the city

The 2018 State of the City address is quickly approaching.

Mayor Cathy Heron will be speaking at the event, which will take place at the Enjoy Centre on Sept. 19.

More than 300 people are expected to attend the event, which is being organized by the St. Albert and District Chamber of Commerce. The mayor will outline her vision for the future, while talking about current developments within the city.

Jennifer McCurdy, president and CEO of the St. Albert and District Chamber of Commerce, says it’s a chance for representatives of various businesses to speak with the mayor, who has been in office for almost one year.

“It’s a great opportunity for the business people to hear from the mayor directly and be able to ask questions,” she said.

McCurdy said this year, there will be other mayors and councillors from surrounding municipalities at the event.

“They’ll be able to hear the great work that St. Albert is doing and how we’re moving forward.”

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. For more information, visit:
