The St. Albert Centre has announced a new retailer slated to open this fall, once the expansion area is complete.

Michael Hill Canada is a store specializing in wedding bands, engagement rings and jewelry.

The store is one of more than 20 retailers that will open their doors come this fall. The centre recently announced three other additional stores to be opening in the space: Evena Naturals, Soft Moc and Bellissima.

Winners opened on March 28 and Mark’s Work Wearhouse opened in September. London Drugs will move to its new space in the mall in June.

Champion Pet Foods in Morinville was recently named one of Alberta’s top employers for the second year in a row.

The company earned the title of one of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers, presented by Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.

Frank Burdzy, president and CEO of Champion Foods, said in a release, “We are very excited to be recognized as one of Alberta’s Top Employers.”

Employers are evaluated on the following criteria: physical workplace, work atmosphere and social, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, trainings and skills development and community involvement.

The factory has won over a dozen awards in the last decade for being innovative and producing top-of-the-line pet food.

A new retailer has taken over the 300-square-foot space at The Collective. C’est Sera Boutique sells women’s fashion and clothing.

The store will open in May and will offer a wide variety of Canadian fashion brands.

The 300-square-foot space is part of a partnership between the community and social development department and the city’s economic development department. It is designed as a way to increase and sustain business growth within the downtown core.

The Collective offers prime retail space for businesses looking to rent at an affordable rate, with electricity, heat/AC, full security including alarm system and Wi-Fi included in the rent.

When ready to expand, St. Albert Economic Development will help the retailer relocate in the community.
