NEWS Gilles Prefontaine resigns from St. Albert city council

Gilles Prefontaine has resigned from city council to take a job with the City of St. Albert. Prefontaine will be the chief community development officer for the City of St. Albert. The role is an expanded version of the general manager of planning and engineering role. Prefontaine’s new role is effective May 5. He’ll be in charge of the planning, engineering and Build St. Albert departments. “I’m not going away. I’m still here. I’m still going to be serving residents of St. Albert,” Prefontaine said. The rookie councillor was elected in October 2013 where he finished sixth. His resignation, which was handed in on Tuesday, will trigger a byelection.

Local News Morinville RCMP search for missing youth

A 14-year-old youth is missing. Morinville RCMP is asking the public for help in locating Brayden Stevenson-Tourangeau. He was reported missing on April 19 from Bon Accord in Sturgeon County. RCMP believe he may be in the Edmonton area.
