St. Albert-Sturgeon River advance vote totals second highest in Alberta

A total of 30,250 people voted last weekend in St. Albert-Sturgeon River.

St. Albert Inn was one of the advance voting stations set up around the city from April 18 to April 22.

Over 7.3 million Canadians cast their ballot during advance voting, and St. Albert-Sturgeon River had the second highest number of advance voters in Alberta, according to numbers released by Elections Canada.

Per Elections Canada, a preliminary total of 30,250 St. Albert-Sturgeon River residents voted at advance polls over last weekend. The riding saw the second highest number of advance voters in the province.

Calgary-Crowfoot came in first with 33,743 voters. Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan was directly behind St. Albert-Sturgeon River with 30,205 voters.

On April 22, returning officer for St. Albert-Sturgeon River Trudy Bossio said the total amounted to approximately 32 per cent of the riding's voters.

 "I think this was very high. It was swamped all weekend, and it was not just here it was everywhere," Bossio told the Gazette on Tuesday.
