In an emailed statement, St. Albert Ward Trustee Joan Crockett said she would not seek re-election this fall.

Crockett was first elected in the 2009 by-election and has served as chair and vice-chair of GSACRD.

“Serving as a trustee for the last 12 years for Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” she said.

Crockett said her last 45 years as a teacher and trustee in the St. Albert and Legal regions were immensely rewarding, and she was grateful for the opportunities and learnings she experienced. She cited the district’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2014-2015 and the openings of the Sister Alphonse and St. Kateri schools as highlights of her career.

Crockett said she hopes to catch up on hugs with her eight grandchildren and other family members once her term is up.
