Canadians have elected a Liberal minority government and house seats will be similar to those that existed before the election was called.
Just after 9 p.m. on Monday night CBC called a Liberal minority government, although the final seat total is not known at this time.
In Alberta, Conservatives held strong in rural regions, with every riding called for the party, except for Peace River-Westlock, where Conservative incumbent Arnold Vierson was leading with 60.9 per cent of the vote, with 24 per cent of polls reporting.
In urban centres in Alberta, results are still outstanding, with several close races in the province. In Edmonton Centre Randy Boissonnault, who was elected in 2015 and lost his seat in the 2019 election, is attempting to win his seat back against Conservative James Cummings.
Cummings is currently leading with 34.6 per cent of the vote and Boissonnault is in second place with 31.1 per cent with 47.9 per cent of polls reporting so far.
In Edmonton Griesbach, long time Conservative MP Kerry Diotte may lose his seat to newcomer Blake Desjarlais from the NDP. Desjarlais is leading with 40.8 per cent of the vote while Diotte is sitting at 36.2 per cent just after 9:30 p.m. with 37 per cent of polls reporting.
