The CBC decision desk and The Canadian Press have called the election and the Liberal Party of Canada will be forming Canada's federal government, although it is unknown if they will have a majority or minority government.
Just before 8:30 p.m. it was announced Justin Trudeau will serve a third term as the prime minister of Canada and, as the results are rolling in across the country, the party has held onto all its seats in Eastern Canada.
In Alberta, data is still trickling in, with results for the St. Albert-Edmonton riding still unreported. Many of the ridings left to call in Alberta and rural communities across the Prairies are expected to elect Conservative candidates, but it won't be enough to push the party to a win.
Early polling showed that local incumbent Conservative Michael Cooper was expected to win his seat back while facing off against Greg Springate of the Liberal Party, Kathleen Mpulubusi of the NDP, and Bridgette Cecelia of the People's Party of Canada.
