Sue has been with the Gazette for more than 20 years. Beginning as a freelance contributor based in Sturgeon County, she then joined the full-time staff, reporting education and sports for the former Morinville Gazette and contributing features to the St. Albert Gazette
After covering a variety of other beats, including municipal, provincial and federal politics, health, crime and court, Sue was appointed the Gazettes assistant editor in the early 1990s before taking over the editors desk.
During her time with the newspaper, the Gazette and its newsroom and photography staff have been recognized locally, provincially and nationally with a wide variety of awards. Sue has also contributed to the American Press Institutes community newspaper workshops.
She has lived in St. Albert for 16 years and has two grown children.

Peter Boer

Peter joined the Gazette newsroom in November 2003.
He graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA in psychology. Peter enjoyed university so much he enrolled again, this time at Concordia University in Montreal, where he completed a graduate diploma in journalism in April, 2003.
Before joining the Gazette newsroom, Peter worked in the newsroom of the Edmonton Journal as an intern. He also spent the summer of 2003 as the festival reporter for CBC Radio Edmonton.
Peter is the Gazette's assistant editor.

Jeff Hansen

Jeff joined the St. Albert Gazette as its sports reporter in 1991.
Previous newspaper stops include the Wetaskiwin Time-Advertiser, Wainwright Star Chronicle and the Golden Star. Prior to embarking on a journalism career, Jeff toiled as a DJ/reporter at radio stations in Weyburn, Sask. and Powell River, B.C.
A St. Albert resident, Jeff attended Entwistle School while growing up on a farm in Moon Lake. The father of three graduated from Frank Maddock High School in Drayton Valley and is a product of the Grant MacEwan College journalism program.
The highlight of Jeffs stay at the Gazette is not the regular top-three placings in various industry association competitions, but working with a winning team of talented and dedicated staff.

Ashterah, the Gazettes proofreader, spent 25 years at a daily newspaper in Saskatchewan before relocating to British Columbia in 1998.
After several years working at community newspapers and doing freelance graphic design, she and her husband relocated to St. Albert in 2001.

Anna began freelancing for the Gazette in 2000 and was brought on board full-time in 2003 as the newspapers entertainment writer. As a freelancer she covered culture and heritage, education, health and agriculture stories.
Anna is a graduate of NAITs Radio and Telvision Arts program and later completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Alberta. She has worked for Edmonton dailies as librarian/proofreader and as a features and advertising copy writer. Now firmly entrenched in St. Albert with two teenagers, Anna has become an advocate for the communitys dynamic young talent.

Cory graduated from the journalism program at the University of Western Ontario in April, 2005. Upon returning home to Alberta, he accepted a temporary placement and freelanced for the Edmonton Journal. He joined the Gazette newsroom in October, 2005.
A native of St. Paul, Alta., Cory also holds a commerce degree from the University of Alberta.

Bryan Alary

Since graduating from SAITs print media program, Bryans had the fortune of doing what he loves sharing peoples stories.
Bryan started his journalism career in Calgary, writing features and copy editing at a local publishing company. He found his niche in community journalism when he signed on at the Lacombe Globe, first as a reporter, and later as editor. The Canadian Community Newspapers Association recognized his work in 2005, when he was a finalist in feature writing.
Bryan became the Gazettes city hall reporter in the spring of 2006. The position provides unique insight into a community he and his wife both enjoy.
In a previous life, Bryan studied fine arts at the University of Calgary and Alberta College of Art & Design.

Kevin Ma

Kevin officially joined the St. Albert Gazette in 2006 after serving internships at the Gazette and the Edmonton Journal.
Kevin earned a degree in Political Science at the University of Alberta and moved on to a masters of Journalism at Carleton University in 2006, when he wrote a thesis on the state of the Sturgeon River. The thesis is available at the St. Albert Public Library.
Kevin writes about the environment, agriculture and aboriginal affairs. He also regularly contributes features on other topics to the Gazette.

Born and raised in Markham, Ont. Ryan Joined the Gazette in June 2007.
Ryan completed a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communications in 2005 at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he also served as news editor of the campus paper the Charlatan.
After a brief stint in the federal bureaucracy he moved west to a reporter position with the Westlock News in June 2006 before joining the staff at the Gazette.
Ryan covers St. Alberts neighbours in Sturgeon County as well as the courts and crime.

Jeremy, originally from Calgary, joined the Gazette staff in January, 2008.
In 2005 he enrolled in Journalism Arts at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary, majoring in photojournalism. Throughout his second year he freelanced for the Cochrane Eagle weekly newspaper.
Upon graduating in 2007, he took a job as a photographer with the Lloydminster Meridian Booster, a three times a week newspaper on the Alberta-Saskatchewan Border. |
