St. Albert MLA Stephen Khan plans to seek re-election.
Khan confirmed on Saturday after the St. Albert Progressive Conservative riding association’s annual meeting that he will seek to be the PC nominee in the upcoming nomination process.
A nomination vote, if one is needed, will be held on Feb. 28 for the St. Albert riding, along with several other ridings across the province. Several PC nomination votes will also be held the week before, including to fill the PC candidate spot recently left by Doug Horner in the Spruce Grove-St. Albert riding.
Khan was first elected in 2012 and is currently serving as Service Minister.
Several long-time PC MLAs have made it known in recent weeks they don’t plan to seek re-election.
Khan said while he doesn’t see himself as a career politician and is pleased with the infrastructure that’s been promised for St. Albert by the province, the riding doesn’t yet have all the items he’d like to see it receive from the province.
“We need more. I want more. I want to make sure these projects get completed,” he said.
It is unknown at this time if Khan will face any challengers for the nomination.
