The Bellerose Bulldogs host a basketball doubleheader today in the metro Edmonton league.
Game times are 5 p.m. for the Bellerose men (5-0) against the St. Albert Skyhawks (3-1) in division two pool B and 6:30 p.m. for the lady Bulldogs (2-3) against the McNally Tigers (5-1) in division three.
The Paul Kane Blues welcome the Archbishop Jordan Scots today in metro Edmonton basketball.
The division two pool B men’s match between Paul Kane (4-0) and the Scots (2-2) starts at 5 p.m., followed by the division one women’s tilt between the Blues (3-1) and the Scots (1-4) at 6:30 p.m.
The lady Blues are 12-5 overall and in the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 4A rankings are listed sixth as the third-highest metro team in the top 10.
This weekend the lady Blues are in Calgary for the Bishop Grandin tournament and the Paul Kane men are competing at the Archbishop MacDonald tournament.
Upcoming for the Paul Kane men is the Feb. 13 showdown against the host Bellerose Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.
The next women’s basketball tournament for the St. Albert Skyhawks is the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute 50th annual Green and Gold this weekend.
The first game for the Skyhawks is Friday against the Raymond Comets.
Raymond and the Skyhawks are seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 4A rankings.
The Skyhawks are 11-8 overall as a 3A high school team in their fourth season at the 4A basketball level.
League play resumes Monday for the Skyhawks (3-2) in metro Edmonton division one against the Strathcona Lords (2-3) at 6:30 p.m. at the SkyDome.
Meanwhile, the division two pool B Skyhawks are one of five men’s teams to receive honourable mentions in the 3A rankings and three metro teams cracked the top 10.
The Sturgeon Spirits hoop it up today in Ardrossan in metro Edmonton division two pool men’s action.
Tipoff is 5 p.m. between Sturgeon (1-3) and the host Bisons (3-1).
Sturgeon also has a Feb. 15 date with the St. Albert Skyhawks at 5 p.m. at the SkyDome.
Monday the division two pool B lady Spirits (1-1) rattle the rim at 5 p.m. against the visiting Memorial Marauders (1-0).
The Spirits are No. 7 in the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 3A women’s rankings as the fourth metro team in the top 10.
