Tonight at 7 p.m. the St. Albert Cardinals host the Spruce Grove White Sox at Legion Memorial Park.

In the NorWest Midget AAA Baseball League the first-place Cardinals (18-2) are undefeated in eight games and the White Sox (8-6) have lost three straight.

Last weekend at the annual Peter DeVries Invitational Tournament in Edmonton the Cardinals finished 5-0 with victories of 8-0 against SEEBA 2, 8-2 against the Lethbridge Giants, 8-1 against Okotoks Red, 9-3 against SEEBA 1 in the semifinals and 6-4 against Okotoks Red in the final.

Players of the game for the Cardinals were Erik Sabrowski against SEEBA 2, Jake Fischer against Lethbridge, Mat Brisson against Okotoks, Taran Oulton against SEEBA 1 and Logan Harvey in the final.

This weekend the 2013 Tier 1 provincial finalists and Western Canadian gold medallists have doubleheaders scheduled against Okotoks Dawgs White (6-9) Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m.

The St. Albert Impact men’s teams continue their winning ways this week in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. the division 1B Impact 2 squad and AC Milan hook up at the ESA Complex.

The Impact 2 are challenging for top spot with four wins, three ties and one loss.

Thursday at 7 p.m. the premier Impact 1 side kicks the ball against the host Victoria Soccer Club.

The Impact 1 are ranked first with six wins, three ties and one loss.

The senior B St. Albert Miners are in Spruce Grove tonight to play the winless Slash in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

Ball drop is 7:30 p.m. at Grant Fuhr Arena.

The Miners are 11-0 after blasting the Edmonton Outlaws 12-1 Saturday in St. Albert.

It was 11-0 Miners when Dave Marrese’s shutout bid ended with 10:26 left in regulation time.

All goals were scored at even strength except for Chris Schmidt’s shorthanded effort to make it 9-0 halfway through the contest.

Graedon Cornfield whipped up four goals and three assists to raise his league-leading totals to 37 goals and 66 points.

Steve Tessarola and Jordan Cornfield tallied twice and Marshall Just, Jarrett Toll and Sean Reid notched singles.

Marrese also picked up two assists, one more than Reid, the league’s top playmaker with 40 helpers.

The next home game is July 2 against the Slash at 8 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena.
