Mavericks 09 is the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League rep at the Tier III provincials this weekend at the ESA Complex.

In pool two the Mavericks have matches scheduled today against NW Peace at 12:15 p.m. and Juventus, the Edmonton District Soccer Association No. 2 team at provincials, at 5:15 p.m. and Sunday against the Calgary Women’s Soccer Association No. 1 team at 2:15 p.m.

Monday’s medal finals are 2:30 p.m.

Last year the Mavericks finished fourth after winning gold in 2014.

The Mavericks are 12-0 (62 GF/2 GA) as the SAWSL division one champions the last two years.

Tryouts are underway for the midget AAA Raiders, bantam AAA Sabres and midget AAA female Slash in the St. Albert Raiders Hockey Club.

Sunday the Blue versus White intersquad games for the Raiders start at 2:30 and 5 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena and the Sabres host the Sherwood Park Flyers at 1:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

Monday’s Blue/White game for the Slash is 8 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The five-team playoff round robin to determine the final four pairings in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League wraps up Tuesday.

Kickoff times are 6:30 p.m. between Prestige Worldwide (3-0) and Forest Park Rangers (3-0) at Salisbury field and Chester City (1-2) against SA City (0-3) at Forest Park field.

Magnitude FC (1-3) has the bye.

Prestige and the Rangers have qualified for the championship series at Riel Park on Sept. 13 (game one) at 6:30 p.m. and Sept. 18 (game two) at 3 p.m.

Teams ranked third and fourth will compete in the third-place playoff Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. at Riel Park.

Prestige finished first in league play at 10-0-2, followed by the Rangers (9-2-2), Chester City (5-8), Magnitude (4-8-1) and SA City (1-11-1).

The St. Albert Merchants play three exhibitions in five nights, starting 8 p.m. Friday against the Strathcona Sabres at Akinsdale Arena.

The Merchants also face-off against the Fort Saskatchewan Hawks on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Akinsdale rink and the teams meet again Sept. 13 at 7:45 p.m. at JRC Arena.

The Capital Junior B Hockey League season opener is Sept. 18 against the visiting Spruce Grove Regals at 8 p.m.

The Merchants are hosting a pre-game tailgate party for fans and sponsors at 6 p.m. and a band will perform at 6:30 p.m.
