RCMP recovered an estimated $75,000 worth of stolen property in Morinville on Dec. 20.

Officers executed search warrants on a residence and a storage facility and recovered items including a side-by-side, a Yamaha quad, a dirt bike, a utility trailer, a generator, three spools of copper and numerous tools.

A number of property and business owners have been contacted and advised that their property has been recovered.

Several suspects have been identified and charges are anticipated in the near future.

St. Albert RCMP charged one impaired driver during a Checkstop on Dec. 20.

Of the 540 vehicles checked, officers also handed out a charge for refusing to provide a breath sample, six roadside suspensions, one charge for possession of drugs and 16 tickets.

There have been no fatal collisions in St. Albert so far this Christmas season, says Const. Jaden Courtney, supervisor for the St. Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit.

“In addition to the Checkstops that were conducted by police in December, community residents reported 21 possible cases of impaired driving to the RCMP.”

Bus service is available on New Year’s Eve in Edmonton with the last return trip getting to Village Landing at 2:40 a.m. Bus service within St. Albert, to the Victory Life fireworks display on Mission Hill, is restricted to Dial-A-Bus.

Bus service is free after 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and two extra runs have been added for the occasion so that people can come home later than they normally could on a weekday in St. Albert.

The regular weekday service for St. Albert’s Route 201 is in effect, except for the two additional run. Evening buses depart from Village Landing Station at 45 minutes after the hour. Route 201 leaves Edmonton City Hall at 103A Ave. and 99 Street at 10 minutes after the hour and arrives back at Village Landing at 40 minutes after the hour. Once back at Village Landing Station, Dial-A-Bus is available for transportation within the city itself.
