There are multiple photos on STARS dream home lottery site http://www.starslotteryalberta.ca/prizes.php. Edmonton grand prize #2
This year’s STARS lottery show home in Edmonton’s Griesbach district connects to the basic elements of life: sky, light, rock and wood, and it does it in a most comforting way.
The house, built by Concept Homes would retail for $973,979. It would offer a life-changing opportunity for the lucky winner. It offers 2,829 square feet on two levels with an open plan designed for families. The home displays features new decorating and style ideas.
“We wanted to have an earthy classic feel that’s timeless and feels warm,” said Rick Hinteregger, president of Concept Homes as he talked about the deliberate way his staff tried to pay tribute to STARS Air Ambulance and the vital service that agency provides.
The tribute begins right inside the lofty front entry. This is where the ‘sky’ part of the dimension comes into focus because overhead there is a large circular, blue-coloured sculpture that looks like a sapphire during daylight hours and is subtly dramatic at night.
“The sculpture is custom etched and it pays tribute to the heart and soul of STARS Air Ambulance in the sky. So many times artwork is on the walls. We wanted it to be on the ceiling,” Hinteregger said.
In addition the front foyer and stairway to the second level is lit by three huge windows, which shine light and warmth over the landing.
“There’s lots of glass and the house faces west so there’s lots of light. Our goal was to make the front entranceway feel uplifting like STARS,” he said.
The two-storey, three-bedroom home has a double attached garage. It has a flex room that could be a main floor office or formal dining room. The large master bedroom has a luxurious master ensuite with custom curved shower, double sinks and free standing soaker tub. The large master walk-in closet has a walk through laundry room. There is a large great room with a feature fireplace, and a bonus room with a wet-bar for easy entertaining.
As you move on into the house you will notice the four Edison pendulum lights over the kitchen counter, which look like illuminated artwork.
Glass-front cabinets provide a built-in china cabinet for fancy dishes. In addition, there are plenty of navy-coloured cabinets for everyday ware.
The walls in both the kitchen and great room are made from layered Eldorado stone.
The flooring is made from wide, wire-brushed hardwood planks.
“Though it’s smooth to the touch, the floor also has interesting texture and grooves. We find this kind of flooring seems warmer because it doesn’t have a high gloss to it. Our designer calls the home’s design ‘West Coast transition style,’ ” he said.
There’s more art upstairs in the huge en suite bath, which features a curved shower with blue pebble rock on the floor and an etched glass door.
“The door is made to look like trees and the floor is like the beach,” Hinteregger said.
STARS Air Ambulance lottery offers 3,145 prizes worth more than $4.9 million. In addition to the Griesbach-area home there are STARS houses in Calgary, Red Deer and Lethbridge. Other large prizes include 24 vacation packages and six vehicle packages including a 2017 RAM 2500 Crew Cab and Arctic Fox 28 F Travel Trailer, worth $127,983.
