U19 rugby final
The Nor’Westers Cup is for up grabs tonight between the St. Albert Rugby Football Club and the Clansmen in the Edmonton Rugby Union U19 junior final.
Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. at Ellerslie Rugby Park.
The winner scrums down against the Calgary Rugby Union champion in Saturday’s provincial final at Calgary Rugby Park.
The last Nor’Westers Cup celebration in SARFC history was 2006 when the age division was U18.
Last year SARFC suffered a semifinal exit and two years ago reached the final.
SARFC is 4-1 after winning the last week’s semifinal 2-1 on penalty kicks against the visiting Strathcona Druids (1-4) after a 17-17 stalemate in regulation time.
The Clan are 5-0 after their 29-0 playoff victory against the Pirates/LTs (1-4).
In league play the Clan pummelled SARFC 69-5 as the juniors played with only 13 for most of the match at Alpine field.
Last year the Clan White team swept the ERU and provincial playoffs.
