Door-knockers don't stand for all youth

It was disappointing to read the Gazette’s Saturday, Aug. 2 front page story regarding teens vandalizing and causing mischief: "Stop the mischief: RCMP."
These types of stories often cause the public to adopt a negative impression of all youth. I hope the teens involved at some point – sooner rather than later – feel embarrassed and ashamed of themselves for wasting their time committing such childish, stupid and mean-spirited acts and just grow up.
On a brighter note – several youth (all 12 and under) on Lester Crescent this past weekend ran a curbside stand selling bracelets, lemonade and cookies. Not all that uncommon this time of year – however what was heartwarming was that all their proceeds went to the Canadian Cancer Society.
As someone currently fighting breast cancer – this thoughtful type of endeavour was truly touching and it reinforced to me that many of our youth today do have good hearts.
