St. Albert RCMP are asking residents for any information they might have about a car that was torched last week.
Around 2:30 a.m. on July 23, a white 2013 Mazda 3 was set on fire at the corner of Kingswood Blvd. and Kenilworth Cres. Neighbours in the area heard a "pop" and saw flames, which prompted them to called the St. Albert Fire Department.
The fire was extinguished and the vehicle sustained considerable damage, estimated at $20,000.
“We tend to see more break-ins to vehicles and damage to vehicles on city streets in the summer time because more people are out and about, roaming the streets later at night,” said Const. M-J Burroughs.
RCMP want to remind residents that vehicle break-ins are often crimes of opportunity. Lock up your vehicle and keep valuables out of sight.
