Sturgeon County families have a great day of fun activities coming up for them in Calahoo.

The Sturgeon Family Fun Day, an annual fundraising and recreational event, is coming up Sunday, July 20 in Calahoo.

Summer supervisor Samantha Stuart said the event is an activity-filled day for the whole family, free of charge. The only offering that has price tags is the food concession, manned by Sturgeon County Mayor Tom Flynn, council and staff.

Families can enjoy a rock wall, petting zoo, pony rides, a dunk tank and can inspect protective services vehicles up close with the help of municipal staff.

Also, “Dog in the Park” activities are planned for families and their favourite furry, four-legged friends to enjoy.

Plus, experts will also be on hand to offer child safety seat inspections and advice.

The whole day starts off with a Twoonie breakfast from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Stuart said the event is a fundraiser for the Sponsor a Child program. The program helps less fortunate families send their kids to summer camp.

The Sturgeon Family Fun Day will be held in the Calahoo arena and ag grounds just off Range Road #275 this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
