Men’s premier soccer
The St. Albert Impact are looking to move up in their division this Thursday against the sixth place St. Albert Impact Rangers Strikers. The teams kick off at 7 p.m. on Riel turf field for some premier league action.
The Impact beat the Rangers Strikers 2-0 at Foote Field last time they met and will be looking to repeat that success again. The Impact have the second lowest number of goals against this season with 12. The Rangers Strikers have the third lowest with 15 goals against.
Look for Haris Kevac of the Impact to break the defensive stalemate late and add to his goal column. The Rangers Strikers are not a St. Albert Impact team and carry the name as part of a transaction deal last year.
The St. Albert Senior Cardinals take on the Edmonton Blues at Footz Field this Wednesday night. The pitches start flying at 6:45 p.m.
The second place Senior Cardinals will be looking to hold off the surging third place Edmonton Blues.
The Blues have been a wild team to watch this year. They have the second highest runs-for average and the third highest runs-against average in the league.
The Senior Cardinals will have to settle their game down and play solid defensively to come away with the win.
The St. Albert Cardinals will play a suppertime exhibition game at Telus Field this Friday against the Spruce Grove White Sox. The first pitch flies at 5 p.m.
The team is excited to have some fun and show off their skills on the big diamond. The Cardinals are looking to repeat their success in Red Deer’s tournament last weekend.
The team beat the White Sox in the finals and won the tournament with a score of 18-8. The St. Albert Cardinals have a very active Twitter feed. Follow @AAAPeeweeCards for scores and information about upcoming games.
The St. Albert Junior Cardinals take on the Stony Plain Mets Thursday night at Legion Memorial Park. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. Last weekend the Junior Cardinals met the Westlock Red Lions at Legion park and broke even with a win and a loss.
It has been a rough season for the Junior Cardinals and they’ll need every win they can get moving forward. The Red Birds played the Edmonton Athletics Tuesday night but scores were not available at press time.
