One more week of Improvaganza

They are wacky, wild and out of this world. No, they are not Martians with little antennas sprouting on their head. But the standup comedians at Improvaganza could be – if you wanted them to be.

Improvaganza, hosted by Rapid Fire Theatre, continues for another seven days of chaos and outrageous jokes with some of the best comedians on the planet, says artistic director Amy Shostak.

This year the popular Edmonton improv theatre troupe is introducing tickle-your-funny bone guests from across the world – I Bugiardini from Rome as well as Hamburg’s Torsten Voller and Atlanta’s Dad’s Garage.

From Canada, expect to see the sides-splitting antics from Easy Action. Here on the home turf, RTF, Die-Nasty and Theatre Sports are gearing up for momentous action.

Shows are at the Citadel Theatre in both The Club (Rice Theatre) and Zeidler Hall. Tickets range from $15-$20 and are available online at

Big Wreck announces tour in support of new album

Rock artist Ian Thornley and his band Big Wreck have just announced a cross-Canada tour fresh off the heels of their new album release.

Released on June 10, Ghosts is already being lauded by critics as “both sorrowful and spiritual” as well as “powerfully uplifting.”

Ghosts, the band’s fourth studio album, hit number one on the iTunes rock charts the day of release, and the first single is currently top 10 at Active Rock and Mainstream Rock in Canada.

The fall tour kicks off in Edmonton on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Encore and wraps up Oct. 16 and 17 in Toronto at The Danforth Music Hall.
