RCMP have charged a 15-year-old St. Albert teen with arson in connection with a grass fire earlier this week.
On Monday morning, the boy - who cannot be named under the Young Offenders Act - allegedly started the fire with a lighter in a grassy area near Fountain Park Pool located at Cunningham Road. The teen wanted to see what would happen and the fire quickly got out of control.
No structures were damaged and there were no injuries.
The fire department was able to quickly put the fire out, but were very concerned as conditions are currently very dry and the risk of fires spreading is quite high.
The 15-year-old is facing one count of arson and is scheduled to appear in St. Albert court on July 8.
