A charge of dangerous driving is pending against an Edmonton woman after her Jeep collided with a car on Hebert Road last week.
Around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, St. Albert RCMP observed a white Jeep Cherokee, with no back taillights lit, parked in the intersection of Hebert Road and Cunningham Road.
RCMP pulled the driver of the Jeep over, but before the officer got out of the marked police vehicle, the Jeep accelerated and took off eastbound on Hebert Road at a high rate of speed. Subsequently the Jeep collided with a dark blue Kia Sorento at the intersection of Falstaff Avenue.
A 40-year-old Edmonton woman, who was driving the Kia, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Kia sustained substantial rear-end damage.
The 28-year-old driver of the Jeep, whose name is not being released by RCMP, was also transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Pending charges against the driver of the Jeep include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, two counts of resisting arrest, flight from police causing bodily harm and impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug.
The 28-year-old has been released on a promise to appear in court.
St. Albert RCMP continue to investigate and more charges may be pending.
