The St. Albert Storm tackle the West Edmonton Raiders today in midget spring league football.
Kickoff is 3 p.m. at Fuhr Sports Park in Spruce Grove.
It’s the first Tier 2 division game of the season for the Storm in the Capital District Minor Football Association.
Last weekend in exhibition action the Storm huddled up against the Tier 1 Lloydminster Red Dogs and lost 37-7 in Spruce Grove.
The Storm have another exhibition scheduled Wednesday against the Tier 1 Parkland Predators at 6:30 p.m. at Clarke Park.
The midget spring league is comprised of five Tier 1 and three Tier 2 teams and the players are in Grades 9, 10 and 11.
The Storm roster of 17 Grade 9, 12 Grade 10 and nine Grade 11 players includes three 2013 metro Edmonton MVPs: Morgan Sherban of the division three champion Fort Saskatchewan Sting (Gilfillan Haliburton Trophy) and both Grant Yuzyk Trophy junior winners – Jace Mix of the Salisbury Sabres (pool A) and Trace Stuht of the two-time undefeated division one champion Bellerose Bulldogs (pool B).
On the depth chart Sherban and Stuht are listed as quarterbacks and defensive backs and Mix is a running back.
