The St. Albert Nordic Ski Club rescheduled its loppet and fun relays after cold weather postponed Sunday’s competition at Kingswood Park.
The classic technique loppet and sprint classic relays for six- to 13-year-olds will be staged this Sunday with the same mass start times of 2 p.m. for the loppet and 3 p.m. for the relays.
Bib pickups at the Kingswood shelter are 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for the loppet and 2:45 p.m. for the relays.
There is no cancellation or postponement refund for registrations. If a skier has registered it will be carried forward to Sunday and will automatically be entered.
Registrations are still open until Friday at www.Zone4.ca. The fee is $5 for the loppet and there is no cost for the relays.
Ninety-three skiers have registered online for the loppet and relays.
If a skier is unable to attend Sunday’s event, contact Laurie Hunt, STANSKI special events co-ordinator, at email@example.com to be taken off the start list on race day. Skiers who do not ski Sunday will show up on the result sheet as DNS.
The loppet distances include the 1.5-kilometre stadium loop, 2.5 km Lower River Lot loop and the Lower River Lot and Rivers Edge Trail five km (one lap), 10 km (two laps), 15 km (three laps) and 20 km (four laps).
Relay distances are 50 metres for ages six to eight, 75m for ages nine and 10 and 100m for ages 11 to 13.
Two person relay teams are assigned by race organizers and each team member skis two laps.

Last weekend the Flyers beat the KC Centennials (12-17-6) 2-1 at home and lost 4-2 to the Maple Leafs (9-19-5) in Edmonton.
