Bundle up! There will be another fine fireworks display on Tuesday evening, thanks again to the folks at Victory Life Church. This is the 11th year that the church will be bringing the explosive party to Mission Hill, and as always, they say that they’re doing it for the good of the community.
“It's at the top of our list. It's our way of giving back to a city that gives so much to her citizens,” explained Pastor Scott Debrecen.
“St. Albertans have always been huge supporters of anything homespun. We are a city filled with generous, kind and fun-loving people. Let's keep this spirit of community alive by continuing to believe in and support one another.”
He valued the show at nearly $29,000 including the value of the fireworks and the volunteer time being donated. That includes the free services offered by St. Albert-based Thunder F/X Fireworks as led by proprietor Rob Kowalyshyn.
The New Year’s Eve celebration kicks off, as always, at 8:30 p.m. at Seven Hills. It is expected to run approximately 15 minutes.
The park area will be closed during the day to allow for set up and other preparations in advance of the show. It is expected that thousands of people will come out so parking and even driving around downtown might be difficult. All St. Albert Transit service after 6 p.m. is free to help alleviate this congestion.
Attendees are encouraged to pay attention to the weather conditions and dress accordingly.
Debrecen offered warm wishes and season’s greetings from him, his wife Pastor Yvette Debrecen, and everyone else at the Victory Life Church.
“The message of this season is love, joy, peace and fresh starts,” he said.
