The St. Albert Crusaders skate twice this weekend at home in the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League.
The Crusaders (14-2-3) play the NE BC & Yukon Flyers (5-11-1) tonight at 7:45 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena and Sunday against the Fort McMurray Barons (5-15) at 12 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Crusaders are undefeated in 11 games after their fifth straight win, 5-1 over SSAC Don Wheaton (8-8-3) last week in St. Albert.
Zac Dechaine tallied twice and Riley Smith, Brendan Bow and affiliate Zach Sherburne also scored. Kris Kraychy added three assists. Shots were 54-22 for the Crusaders. In net was Connor Mckay (10-1-2, 2.22 GAA).
Meanwhile, the next game for the St. Albert Blues (12-45-2) is Wednesday versus SSAC Lakewood Chevrolet (13-2-1) at Northstar Hyundai Arena.
Friday the Blues hosted the Camrose Vikings (8-3-4), but the score was unavailable at press time.
The only league game in December for the bantam AAA female St. Albert Raiders is today against the Spruce Grove Saints.
Puck drop is 2:15 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena.
The Raiders (3-7-2) and Saints (0-11-4) are the bottom two teams in the north standings.
The Raiders were 1-3-1 in November, including a 4-4 draw with the Saints in the teamís last game.
Junior B contest
Sunday the St. Albert Merchants host the Stony Plain Flyers in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.
Faceoff is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The first-place Merchants (20-2-1) had won nine in a row prior to Fridayís game against the 2013 Founders Cup champion Sherwood Park Knights. The score from Sherwood Park was unavailable at press time.
The last home game before the Christmas break is against the Beverly Warriors next Friday on Minor Hockey Day at 8 p.m. The Merchants gave out free tickets to the game to 320 players on 22 St. Albert initiation teams.
The Bellerose Bulldogs have exhibition games scheduled Tuesday against the Holy Trinity Trojans in metro Edmonton division two basketball.
Start times are 5 p.m. for the men and 6:30 p.m. for the women.
League play in pool B tips off Wednesday at Bellerose against the St. Peter The Apostle Spartans at 5 p.m. for the women and 6:30 p.m. for the men.
Last season the Bellerose men finished 0-11 in the premier conference and the lady Bulldogs were 3-8 as the division two city finalists.
