Legal residents voted in two new faces and three familiar ones Monday during their civic election.
Town returning officer Wilma Weiss reported Tuesday that Ken Baril, Kurtis Hauptman, Pat Hills, Trina Jones and Carol Tremblay had won the 2013 Legal civic election.
Hauptman won the most support with 265 votes, with incumbents Tremblay and Baril close behind with 228 and 222, respectively. Newcomer Hills was next with 198, followed by incumbent Jones with 150.
Just behind Jones was challenger Tina Hills with 123 votes. Trailing the pack was Curtis Epp with 50.
About 339 people voted in this yearís election, Weiss said, compared to 288 in last fallís byelection.
As Legal has up to 870 residents that are 18 or over (reports Statistics Canada), this suggests a voter turnout of about 40 per cent (assuming all those residents were eligible to vote).
Legal councillors will choose one of their own to sit in the mayorís chair at their Oct. 28 meeting, Weiss said.
