Now on to election issues

Now the suspicious "Think Tank" (they actually want to address the real issues) has come forward can we get on with the real issues at stake in this election?
First, the ever increasing taxes in this city. I have lived here for 22 years, raised my kids and they have moved into Edmonton as they cannot afford to live in St. Albert. If this trend continues I will have to retire elsewhere when that time comes.
Second, the utilities, a hidden tax windfall for the City of St. Albert. We are paying for future improvements when we may not live here to enjoy the benefit of those improvements. Those improvements may also not happen in your area so you are paying for perhaps the "new" areas.
This city does not have a commercial tax base that can sustain it. Continuing to increase residential taxes and hidden taxes in utility bills is no longer an option for this mayor and council. Postponing voting on theses issues until after the election is certainly not showing any type of honesty or accountability to the residents.
As in everything there has to be a balance. Taxes, how they are spent – art versus lower taxes, new office space for city hall employees versus lower utility rates, the unveiling of a buffalo versus proper pothole repair.
Common sense and tightening of the belts at city hall need to come into play in this election. I have had one "running for council" individual person come knocking on my door willing to discuss these issues.
Where the heck are the rest of you? Or do you not care? Really?
