Maybe St. Albert needs a ward system

Now why am I not surprised that city council has once again blundered yet another land usage deal. Seems not long ago we went through this with the Habitat issue here in Akinsdale. If I remember correctly, the land which was originally designated for future school construction was then absorbed by the city then passed on to Habitat.
At the time we were told there were no new schools proposed for St. Albert and the vacant land was better suited for underprivileged families than be a park. Fair enough, who can disagree with that?
What I do find offensive is the downright underhanded way council deceived St. Albert residents.
Akinsdale residents took their concerns to the council to the same outcome that Erin Ridge residents will soon learn. There will be lots of talk, many closed door meetings and a plenitude of political babble but in the end, the school will be built and we as citizens will have to suffer the consequences.
What still amazes me is that a city the size of St. Albert has no protection from an overbearing council. Why is it we don't have a ward system? Perhaps, in this, a year of election, the ward system should be proposed.
