Women join forces at LB'sBy: Anna Borowiecki | Posted: Saturday, Mar 16, 2013 06:00 am In a salute to women, the Tuesday night jam at LB’s Pub features a lineup of four of the area’s most skilled and active women singer-songwriters. Nadine Kellman, Angela Mackenzie, Dale Ladouceur and Lisa D. are an all-woman powerhouse lineup that together form a dynamic stage presence loaded with soul. Kellman (guitar-vocals) is a musical raconteur extraordinaire and her blues-tinged folk songs have serenaded the music scene since 1999. Bill Bourne, a multiple Juno Award winner, described Kellman’s performances as, “I see a knack in her that she seems to hear what is coming before it comes and sinks into a groove with passion and subtle aggression in her vocals.” Mackenzie (guitars-drums-vocals) is a proud member of the 10-piece Celtic Fusion and its there that her expressive musicianship goes full tilt. Dale Ladouceur (bass-stick-vocals) is one of Canada’s preeminent Chapman Stick players and she’s carved a national presence as a soloist. In addition to being a renowned singer-songwriter, Ladouceur is also a political writer, activist and interviewer. Lisa B. has been a member of Dirty Larry and the Mighty Maidens and part of the St. Albert jam scene since its startup. “She is a very versatile musician also fronting sets on guitar and vocals, or as a great sidewoman sitting in on the keyboards,” says jam host Mark Ammar. “Lisa was also part of our last all woman’s open stage.” The jam is at LB’s Pub on Tuesday, March 19 at 9 p.m. No cover.
