On-site registration for the St. Albert Nordic Ski Club’s annual Fun Loppet today closes at 11:30 a.m. at Kingswood Park.

Entry fee is $10 per skier.

Classic technique distances are the 400-metre bunny hop and fun loops of 2.5, 4.5 and 6.5 kilometres.

The mass start for all fun loops is noon. The bunny hop goes at 12:15 p.m., followed by games.

There is no official timing but a large clock will be set up at the finish area to track your time.

Cookies, warm beverages, prizes and token awards for the kids will also be available.

U14 provincials

The U14 tween AA provincial ringette championship is underway for the St. Albert Stealth at Terwillegar Recreation Centre.

Today the Stealth play Calgary KOR at 9:30 a.m. and Central Alberta Sting at 2 p.m.

Friday’s scores against Edmonton and Calgary Excel were unavailable at press time.

Sunday the bronze final is 8 a.m. and the gold final is 8:30 a.m. If a team is undefeated in the final, the other team has to beat that team twice for the championship. The sudden-death game goes at 1:45 p.m.

This is the first season for a tween AA team in the St. Albert Ringette Association. The tweens competed in the U16 junior A division in the Black Gold League. They recently won the Pacific Ring tournament in Richmond, B.C.

Junior B playoffs

Sunday the St. Albert Merchants host the Beverly Warriors in game two in the best-of-five quarter-finals in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.

Faceoff is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The score from Friday’s playoff opener in Edmonton was unavailable at press time.

Game three goes 8 p.m. Wednesday at Londonderry Arena.

If needed, game four is 8 p.m. Friday at Akinsdale and game five is March 3 at 8 p.m. at Londonderry.
