Share your concerns with councilBy: | Posted: Saturday, Feb 23, 2013 06:00 am Re: Pick up your dog's poo! I totally agree with Valerie Kosik-Sawyer's statements (Gazette, Feb. 16). I previously sent a letter to council regarding the health hazards of dog poo (for dogs and people). Here are some additional suggestions: • If you see dog poo left out there, pick it up and bring it to council meetings. In fairness, distribute equal portions to each council supporter of "no leash." They may have a better "feel" for the problem and a "nose" for a solution. • We could pick up samples of "orphan poo" and get DNA testing on it. This would narrow it down to the breed or combination thereof. The miscreant owner(s) have the privilege of paying for DNA testing plus a fine and/or community service. The dog's DNA is now on file for future reference. • The city could have an appropriate council member lead the APSI (Abandoned Poop Scene Investigation) team. Michael Balaski, St. Albert Comments
