Election sign proposal makes me grumpy

This is just one reason why I am a grumpy taxpayer. The proposal to have no election signage along St. Albert (trying to be pristine) Trail will be ratified by the sitting councillors who will benefit most in an election from name recognition.
If they could, I think banning all election signage would suit them. The signs would be there for only a month. These councillors seem to have forgotten that we live in Canada where we enjoy free speech and not in a place like Syria.
Why is this novel idea suddenly being proposed in an election year? Coincidence? Mayor Nolan Crouse will still be able to advertise on External Affairs’ sign on the trail as he has the bucks. What about those who have less financial resources?
Some of these councillors still do not get it! The trail is a business corridor. You would have to remove all signage and some buildings to make it less cluttered. In my 36 years of living in St. Albert I have never seen such nonsense. I encourage council to do some meaningful work such as lowering taxes. We need councillors who are fiscally responsible and listen to us. This is not happening in St. Albert, which makes me real grumpy.
