The right to bare arms is one thing, but the “right to bear arms” is a much different matter. To the regret of all decent people, 20 little kids were slaughtered at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. It should now be shamefully apparent that only fools, murderers and Americans still need the “right to bear arms” as an essential part of their country’s constitution.
Murder weapons can be anything from stones to rapid-fire rifles. We can’t stop murderers, but we certainly must make mass shootings as difficult for them as possible. No doubt a killer would have little chance to kill 20 children with a stone. But when having a rapid-fire semi-automatic rifle or any other modern weapon, such a crazed coward may then kill dozens of victims within only a few minutes.
The Newtown school massacre must absolutely be the last time something so horrible can ever happen. The deaths of those little kids must give the world a lesson as to how “arms” should be used in a peace-loving society. Mass shootings must end! Arms should be used to embrace little kids, not to kill them.
